NEW CATECHIST ORIENTATION
There will be an orientation for all new catechists or veterans switching from one program level to another (Early Childhood-Elementary-Junior High-REACH) on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 .
GENERATIONS OF FAITH SUNDAY (At all masses)
All households of faith will receive a special blessing during the liturgies on Saturday, September 15, 2007 and Sunday, September 16, 2007.

DIOCESAN CERTIFICATION (INITIAL)
All new catechists or catechists who did not complete this requirement last year need to participate in the Catechist Initial Formation Days which takes place in the fall. The diocese offers this certification on different dates and at different locations. You can check the Catechist Certification and Formation Page on the Diocese of Joliet website.

DIOCESAN CERTIFICATION (ONGOING)
All veteran catechist are expected to spend at least six hours in ongoing faith development. The days, times and topics are yours to choose. The six hours should be completed by May 1, 2008.
Ongoing faith development can be any adult education programs that enrich your faith or help you to share your faith with the students (WINGS events or CREEDS are great ways to enrich your faith). Check the Sunday bulletin for adult education programs offered at St. Raphael and often at surrounding parishes.
PROTECTING GOD'S CHILDREN
This is a proactive training to ensure that children in our program are kept safe. One parent from each family is required to attend this program. This is a one time requirement. You must complete this program and have a background check done before you can begin to teach.

If you do your workshop at another parish, the RE office will need a copy of your certificate as well as a completed background check form. If you attend the workshop at St. Raphael you will just need to turn in your completed background check form to the Service Ministry Office.
