What is a Small Christian Community?
Small Christian Communities (SCCs) are groups of 8-12 adults who come together regularly in one another’s homes to pray, share their faith stories, read and reflect on the scriptures and seek ways to respond to God’s presence in their lives.
SCCs are modeled on the early church communities: gatherings of small home-based communities, where sharing of life and faith may occur; a place where members support one another and know one another personally.
Small Christian Community gatherings take place for 6 consecutive weeks. One session in the fall and one session during Lent. SCCs gather on various days and times in neighborhoods near you. Group time is about 1 ½ hours.
Small Christian Communities will utilize the book series Why Catholic? Journey Through The Catechism published by RENEW International. The book chosen for the upcoming year (2007-08) is: The Profession of Faith: What We Believe. We will explore topics such as: The Trinity, The Mystery of Creation, The Public Life of Jesus, and Mary, Mother of Christ, Mother of the Church.
Why do Small Christian Communities exist?
