September 15      Mothering with Authenticity
The role of a mother is exciting but can also bring about questions such as “Who am
I now that I am a mother, and how do I meet everyone’s needs as well as my
own?”   Nancy Sayer, LCPC from Samaritan Interfaith Counseling will explore
how to be true to yourself and others as a mother.

September  29      New Style Trends
We all dream about a makeover so here is our chance! Teri Tkachuk, a personal
stylist,  will give us a few fashion guidelines to think about before you leave the
house.  She will be discussing new trends for the Fall and will also be bringing an
accessory table!

October  13     Discover Your Spiritual Self
Back by popular demand Dr. Mary Amore of Mayslake Ministries will discuss how
to find your personal path to spirituality. Come discover something new about
yourself from this dynamic speaker!

October  27         Meet Deacon Kurt and Halloween Parade
With the holiday season just around the corner, Deacon Kurt Lange will talk about
ways to calm your nerves and reduce stress during this season. Following Deacon
Kurt’s discussion we will have our annual Halloween parade. Please bring costumes
and bags for treats!

November  3       Cook like Chef
Join Chef David Sapp from West Egg Catering as he shares new Thanksgiving ideas
for some holiday classics, including how to marinated a turkey and create the best
stuffing and pan gravy just like Grandma use to make. Don’t miss this chance to get
some cooking tips from a professional chef while tasting all the delicious holiday food.

November  17        Service Project
This year MGM will help Daybreak House, a homeless shelter run by Catholic
Charities.  We will be making hygiene packets and homemade treats.

December 1        ABCs of Discipline
Tracy Takeda, MA LCPC from Samaritan Interfaith Counseling Center will discuss
ideas to help you raise your children with some basic ABC’s of discipline. She will
also share “discipline that disciples,”a method that addresses their hearts not just their behaviors.

December 15        Christmas Cookie Exchange
Come enjoy Christmas cheer as we relax and socialize with each other. Don’t forget
to bring those Christmas cards that aren’t finished yet! Just because you don’t bake
doesn’t mean you can’t come.   We will spend the last 20 minutes Christmas
caroling with the kids. Take a break from the holiday rush and enjoy this bit of
Christmas cheer.

January 19      New Trends in Interior Design
Lindsay Romberg of Lindsay Interiors will be here to discuss the most recent trends in decorating and share ideas straight from the Merchandise Mart. She will give tips on room makeovers and offer popular paint colors. We will be able to purchase accessories at wholesale cost.

February  2            Money Management and Budgeting
In these uncertain economic times, budgeting is top of mind for everyone. Marilyn Kronke, a parishoner of St. Raphael, will give a “how to” discussion on budgeting and money management for the current economic climate. She will talk about how to decipher between “wants” and “needs.”

February 16     Pediatric Dentist
There is more to taking care of our children’s teeth than we know. Come learn surprising facts about oral care from Dr. Kurt Wagner. Dr. Wagner will educate us about our children’s oral health. 

March  1                Managing Stress
Often our busy lives lead to stressful ones and open the door for illness and disease.  Learn how to simplify your life and manage stress with Dr. Brady Schuyler, Clinic Director, HealthSource of Willowbrook. Dr. Schuyler will discuss being aware of the different stresses in our lives and share ways to manage them, which is essential to long term health and happiness.

March 22       Hospitality as a Spiritual Practice   
Chris Fletcher, Assistant Professor of Theology at Benedictine University, will speak about the Benedictine vision of hospitality. Hospitality has a special place in the Rule of St Benedict and is a key spiritual practice for 21st century Christians. Our hospitality to our family, our friends and our strangers should be a part of how we serve Christ in our daily lives.

April  12        Benefits of Massage Therapy
Who couldn’t use a massage these days? Karen Dreas, licensed massage therapist and owner of Mia Massage will be on hand to discuss different types of massage, stress reduction and pain relief. She will be giving mini massages at the end!

April 19        Helping your Children Become Best Friends in Christ
Rob Rienow, of Visionary Family Ministries will cast a distinctively Christian vision for sibling relationships, and discuss how to help your children build a lifelong friendship and partnership in Christ. Come and listen to his insightful and dynamic discussion!
May 3        Cooking Smart with the American Cancer Society

 

May 17        End of Year Breakfast
Join us for our end-of-the year breakfast at Egg Harbor Restaurant as we wrap up our MGM season and celebrate being a mom.  Babysitting will be available in the Childcare Room while we are gone.  We will meet at Egg Harbor promptly at 9:15 a.m. and everyone will pay their own way.
