Habits of the Soul - Personal Reflection
I love this verse from Matthew 6:5-8. It focuses on Prayer, and what God really wants to hear. For example:'"When you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you. Father knows what you need before you ask him! " Isn't it so comforting to know God knows what we need before we say the words outloud? I have really tried to improve my prayer life through the years. I like to pray in the quiet and stillness of the morning. It tends to help me focus on the path God wants me to take, and helps to quiet my inner worries. (I am a consummate worrier!) I try to start my prayers to thank God for all his incredible blessings that he has given to me and my family. It helps me to remember that my concerns are really small compared to what others have to deal with. God does hear our prayers, and will answer them. Maybe not in the time and way we would always like! This reflection really focused on listening, which is good for me to remember. To really listen and feel God's presence is such a gift. With all the distractions of the day it is good to tune into God and feel his presence and guidance. Which I definitely need to put me in the right direction for everyday.
