Habits of the Soul - Personal Reflection

Day 26
The Role of Good Works
Reflection by: Anonymous

When people think of "good works" it seems that tithing and monetary donations is often what comes to mind. As Habits of the Soul stated, "One of the hardest 'good works' to undertake is what Scripture refers to as tithing." Yet, while financial stewardship is obviously important, I actually think it is more challenging, and more vital, to do good on a daily basis, to strive to constantly live in a way that brings our faith to life and Christ to the world ("they will know we are Christians by our love, by our love ."). What better epitaph could there be than the one put forth in the popular musical, Wicked" "Because I knew you, I have been changed for Good." I don't think enough people can say that about me yet. But I pray that God's grace will lead each of us to do daily moments of conscious Godliness, as we play our small roles in establishing the kingdom of God.

"Your light must shine before others,
that they may see your good deeds
and glorify your heavenly Father." (Matt. 5:16)
