Habits of the Soul - Personal Reflection

Day 15
Only Jesus
Reflection By: Ruth Kerkemeyer

Sometimes we take prayer, Jesus, and God's power for granted and then there are other times when we don't. One of the ways that I have experienced God's ability to break into my life with glory and power is through answered prayer.

Two years ago during an X-ray exam two suspicious spots were found in the same area that the doctor wanted to biopsy. Before the biopsy was performed, a lump also developed in the same area.

My family and I prayed about it. We also asked the prayer group, the bible study group and other friends at church to pray for us.

I was surprised that I did not feel more worried or concerned than I was. I was given the gift of peace and surrendered control of the situation to Jesus.

Then the unexpected happened. God's power and glory were manifested not only to me, my family and friends, but also to my doctor. After three separate biopsies had been performed, no cancer was found! The doctor said that with all of these symptoms in the same area, it is extremely rare that no cancerous cells were found.

The doctor even asked me who was praying for me. I told him about all the people who had been praying. He said to me, "Next time I have a problem I want your friends to pray for me too."

God's power is nothing to be taken for granted.
